Inspiring Artist, Holly Eva Gay

This week’s featured artist is Holly Eva Gay.

 

Please introduce yourself and your art a little bit.

Hi, my name is Holly Eva Gay.  I am a Craft Artist who loves colour movement and design and dance. I was named after a beach in Hawaii by my surfer dad and was taught Craft by my mum and talented Aunties.  I am a self-taught Artist and I love creating wearable Art,  I love sharing arts and crafts with all those who are interested in my style, I love telling tales and laughing, I love being able to create, I love putting a new edge on creativity, I love big bold colours, I love lines, I love the beach, I love the colour pink, I love when black and white are put together,  I love courage, I love fresh food, I love my heart beating, I love cuppa teas, I love music and people.  I will continue to love all that I do for as long as I can.

Recently I have been chosen to teach at Bondi Beach Sydney Australia 2012 for the “Art IS ” workshop.  I was selected along with 12 other Artists which is really very exciting.  I have also teamed up along side with Tracy Verdugo and we have created our very own unique 2 Day Workshop Called “Wholehearted.”  Our Workshops will be travelling to most areas along the South Coast of Sydney.

 

 

For me, art is…

For me art is an expression that has been made from ones imagination based on personal life experiences and where they are sitting in life.

 

 

What are you currently working on?

I am always currently working on pieces of wearable art.

 

 

Who has inspired you?

Ken Done Mambo and Hot Tuna inspired me growing up.  Then there’s Picasso and Matisse who I love along side Traci Bautista and Alisa Burke.  I am very Inspired by Tracy Verdugo; we make a fabulous team!

 

 

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

I love so many quotes, especially song writers’ lyrics and here’s one by me:

“Honour the imagination because it will fly to the heights of all you can be”.

 

 

Are there any tips to living a creative life that you’d like to share?

My tips for living a creative life are very simple:

Be brave, take risks and do what you are passionate about, even if it’s for only a few minutes per day.  The only hard part is truly finding what it is that you are passionate about.
