Sometimes keeping things loose is where it’s at. There was a time in my painting career when I would have fussed over this painting long after my short plein air session. I would have brought it to the studio and polished off the lights, the shadows, and the textures. Likely I would have lost the playfulness and the simple joy of the moment this piece captured.
Allowing myself the gift of keeping things simple on canvas reminds me of how powerful this gift can be in life as well.
Have you ever overworked a situation or overthought an idea to the point where it lost its initial magic? Where might keeping things simple serve you? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
Whether on a painted canvas, or the canvas of life, you are a powerful creator.
