Coffee Anyone?

Creative inspiration is the focus here at JoyfulArts Studio. I would like to begin to introduce you to some famous Art & Artists. May they inspire you in your own creative endeavors, whether you are a writer, a musician, a landscape painter, a fabric artist, a photographer, an art journaler, or simply someone who can appreciate the smell of a new box of crayons.

Art has an amazing power to evoke emotions and ideas within us. It is not our goal to judge the art or try to decipher what the artist wants us to feel. Instead, when you view art, look within yourself and ask what YOU are feeling in response to the images. What does it mean to YOU?

Let’s give it a try…

Coffee by Richard Diebenkorn, 1959 Collection of SFMOMA
http://www.richarddiebenkorn.net/paintings/diebenkorn_landscape_figurative/coffee.htm

  • What do you see? Subject matter, colors, style, technique, materials…
  • Does the image remind you of anything? A memory, a book, a friend, a dream, a vision…
  • How does it make you feel? Calm, relaxed, energized, uncomfortable, safe, afraid…

Now Let’s CREATE!!!

I invite you to create and share your own art inspired by these ideas. Perhaps you are lured in by the color scheme, drawn to the location, excited by the subject matter, or left with a feeling of unexplained peace. Capture it, create it, draw it, paint, it, write it, journal it, sculpt it!

Share your art, process and ideas on the online forums here. (If you haven’t already registered it’s SIMPLE and FREE!)  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Love & Blessings,

Jeniffer

Oh yes, I like this idea, I do, I do!! This painting says “Savour the moment…. mmmmmm…. before I go and crack open that new box of crayons” . Two lovely mouth watering images in one post. A delicious start to my day. Thank you Jeniffer.

Ohh, first of all I loved the comment about those who appreciate the smell of a new box of crayons! That must be you, Jeniffer.

Then, how wonderful is is for me to sit with this woman having her first cup of coffee outdoors in the morning, one of my very favorite things to do. I’ll think about what piece of jewelry I can make with this in mind. It’s a great challenge and I look forward to what everyone will come up with.
