Art & Poetry

ART inspires ART!   Today I would like to share a personal expample with you.

I am completely honored that my own art has inspired my friend (and published author) Rose Firestone. Over the years Rose has completed several “Creative Imagery” poems in response to my landscape paintings. She has captured with her alluring words what these paintings represent in her mind.

With pleasure and gratitude I am sharing this combination of my art and her poetry for the first time here today! Thank you Rose!

For more information on Rose and her books visit her website here and her Lulu Storefront here.

Almost

every thing has its time and space
every thing has its own balance and place
but some times
some things
………………are just………. almost

not quite here
not quite there
not quite seen
not quite heard
not quite morning
not quite night
not quite dull
not quite bright

like time
just hanging
on the brink
on the edge
of the possibility
that maybe
just maybe
it may be something more
than just
……………………….almost…………

Fence Posts

its coming
the time when seasons change
when life reforms itself
into all it needs to be

shadows kiss the ground
below these old posts
as they stand
unstrung……unhinged

like hands once stretched
then dropped
by children waiting in line
eager to grasp their future
these posts
stride the road
waiting for confirmation
with great expectations

Follow Me Through the Woods

sun bursts
chase the fog
as it spills
from behind the trees

shadows follow
under branching arms
cradling a passage

stillness echoes
in quiet breezes
as it accompanies my footsteps onward

my journey
through the woods
brings me full circle
and as i see myself from both ends
peace swallows me whole

and
as i follow myself through the woods
i know where i am going

Gone Fishing

life begins and ends
at the far end of the pier

feet dangle
and sway
back and forth
in a lazy unrealized motion

hook drops low
and bate wiggles down
into the blue ocean curls

as gentle waves
rock in tune with nearing fish fins
the day begins

morning peeks over the hills
greeting fish and fisherman alike
and peace and serenity flourish
as the catch or the day
is reeled

North Carolina Sundown

its almost here
but not quite…………..

the hour
when time escapes through the clouds
and gently pushes tomorrow forward
bringing with it quiet persuasions of reminiscent dreams
is nearing

the sun
has tumbled down
lighting its own way home
through the brilliant sky
it lays it self to sleep
beneath the deep radiant waves……………….
the ocean swallows the glow
keeping it safe till morning………….
the hour is almost here
as time
once again
patiently
waits in silence
for tomorrow……….for more time

Jeniffer and Rose, this is absolutely sensational work!! Jeniffer your images – especially Follow Me Through the Woods – are filled with colors that elicit powerful emotion and imaginings. Rose’s words match that intensity within that piece while in others where your paintings call to mind the feel of peace, Rose’s words create this foundation of peace and quiet. I absolutely love the combination of art and poetry here…I’m so deeply inspired I am not only going to share this work I am going to go and create! Thank you for this gift from the both of you!!

After speaking with you I had forgotten what true friendship really is.
Facsimiles at best over the years, you brought a smile to my face,
which hadn’t been seen for a few years.
Enjoy your work and life’s pleasures.
    Bill
