Priorities

People often ask me how I have the time to do my art.
Here’s my BIG SECRET. I set daily priorities.

I have designated “work time” (ha ha more like fun time). For me this is three mornings a week while my little boy is visiting with his grandparents. If I’m lucky I also get a couple hours during “nap time.”

It’s not much time, but I have learned how to make the most of it. This precious time is spent in front of my easel and conducting my business related activities on the computer. (You may have noticed that my blog posts are almost always M,W & F.)

During this time, my ART is my priority.

The dishes can wait.

I’m going to go paint now!!!

What are your priorities for today?

Thank you! Sometimes I feel guilty if I decide to play with my camera instead of studying or doing dishes or whatever else is “important” in my life at that moment. I appreciate the reminder that it’s important to take moments to do the things that inspire me and remind me why life is worth living.

Your posts are always so inspirational. Thank you.

My priority for today was to do my art journal page for Natasha’s class in 21 Secrets. Well… best laid plans and all that… Jobs got in the way this morning and I had to go to work this afternoon. So at midday, with the cleaning done but ironing still in a waiting pile I thought “ENOUGH!! I then at least made a start on my page. I’m home from work now and ironing still not finished. But that start I made on my journal page was the hardest part done. Now it’s begun I will find it so much easier to steal a few moments with it here and there without the procrastination that strikes when I’m not sure how to proceed. Now… three more shirts left to do…. and I’ll be at my studio table once more!
Oh, and Jeniffer – I’m surprised you EVER get the dishes done when you have that lovely view from your kitchen window to look at instead!

Lol, that has happened to me before too Christine. I just removed your second post so you need not feel embarrassed : )

Thank you Christi and Christine for sharing your priorities. You made my day as I envision you both making time for YOU and YOUR ART today!
