I’m back, ready to welcome in the New Year with open arms covered in paint and possibility!
During my “time off” these past few weeks something unexpected happened. I actually spent more time in my art studio creating than I have in a long time. Being creative folk, my husband and I both decided to make gifts for our friends and family this year. Even Noah got on board with making gifts for everyone. It was so much fun! I fashioned necklace pendants with prints of my artwork, learned to crochet -spending several nights working on scarves, and made new original collages and paintings to gift. It is amazing how much time the three of us were able to make for creativity.
Even after the holidays past I kept on creating! I am on a roll and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon.
It is ironic that it took me officially declaring that I was not working to get so much art work done. This experience has taught me the valuable lesson that we all need to allow our creativity space to flourish. There are many tools, resources, books, groups and social networks out there that feed our creative spirit. We must balance this flood of shared ideas with actually creating our own art as well. From time to time we need to unplug – turn off the computer, turn off our phones, turn off the television. We need to disengage from it all in order to reengage with ourselves. We need to remember and re-experience the sheer joy of creating for fun.
I am listening to my Creative Spirit and it’s telling me there is more work to be done. There are canvases primed and waiting to be painted, there is the book I am writing always calling me to continue on and reminding me of it’s importance in my life, there are other projects I have been putting off for far too long. We are often told that life is cyclical, there is a time for everything. For me, now is the time I must get back to my artwork, exploring words, color, paint, and texture for the love of art and the joy of creating.
Don’t you worry though, I’m not going to leave my website and bloggy friends high and dry while I am off splattering paint around the studio. I’ll still be around, just not quite as frequently over the next few months. I’ll pop in from time to time to let you know how things are going. I’m also going to go digging around the archives and re-share some of my favorite inspirational tidbits for you. Perhaps you can swing by for a little bit of weekly inspiration to get you going and then use the rest of your week to play in your own studio or living room or dining room table… where ever you go to be creative.
And just so you know, I will still be writing my monthly inspirational newsletter. If you would like some creative love sent to your e-mail in box be sure to fill out the little box to the right 🙂
Now go forth, get creative and live this new year as the artist you were born to be!
Love & Blessings,
Jeniffer

Jeniffer, I love the explosion of color here! What a fantastic gift to give–and including yourself among the recipients. That really struck a chord with me. This year I want to create more “just for me” artwork–a way to express myself without wondering what anyone will think but me. Thanks for sharing your creative outpouring with us!
