Have you ever sat and simply watched a child play with art materials? They absolutely exude passion in creative endeavors! Children simply know that they love to create. There is a need in this world for more people to imagine, to create, and to express the beauty that is our world and our lives in the way that children do.
All too often, this natural beauty and the expression of it has become lost in our busy, fast-paced lives. Where does this get us, but further from the true meaning of life? Children have a much better understanding of that meaning than many adults do (even with all of our education and experience.) Curiosity, creativity and love are the dominating elements in a child’s life.
Children state with confidence, “ I am going to be an artist when I grow up!” They are not worried about what someone else will think of them. They don’t care if their work is what is “in” or accepted. In fact, to most children, it is inconceivable that someone else would not like their work. They are not concerned about making money or being famous. It’s all about doing what they love for that reason alone.
I hope to meet many of those children (young and old) in my lifetime so I can encourage them to do it, to believe in themselves always and to do what they love.
