Inspiring Artist, Bonnie Owen

This week I am excited to introduce you to yet another creative branch of my family tree.  Meet my aunt, Bonnie Owen.

Hi Bonnie, Please introduce yourself and your art a little bit.

Hello, my name is Bonnie Owen and I’ve been a painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. I’ve been published in books, magazines and online. For the past 6 years I’ve worked for an international company doing mostly print advertising.

I am also proud to be Jen’s favorite auntie – well, I hope I am her favorite…

For me art is…

part of living. It’s everywhere and in everything. The creative process goes on in each of us even though we are unaware of it. Everything we do says who we are and every choice we make reflects what we believe.

What are you currently working on?

I’ve just joined the ranks of the newly retired! I’m having so much fun learning to animate. I’ve started making online greeting cards. I love the thought of a little note that makes someone smile somewhere in the world.

Who has inspired you?

Well, YOU of course! And your very talented husband, Dan.

I live in San Diego and just being here is an inspiration to me. I love the ocean and often think about the mysterious world that lives under the sea. There are so many millions of amazing creatures … still so much unknown.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

The Desiderata
“…You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. “

Are there any tips to living a creative life that you’d like to share?

Just do what you love.

Where can people find you and your work?

I’ve started a new online greeting card company – www.fireflygreetings.com. Currently all the cards are FREE so please send as many as you’d like! I hope to have a new card every month. This is a brand new venture for me so I welcome any suggestions or comments.

I agree with Tony & Christine! Not only that, but your thoughtful, kindhearted & cheerful nature shines through all that you do and say. You are such an inspiration to me. I am so glad that Jen has introduced you to all of her online friends as well. This website brings such joy and inspiration to everyone who views it.
